Album Review: Exhumation – Consider This
Exhumation, one of India’s premier Death Metal acts is back with the release of their first full length titled, “Consider this”.
What really stands out about this album is the ability to keep to you hooked from the word go, starting off with track All That Is which is a track filled with some monstrous riffs and relentless blast beats to tracks like Black Plague which have a distinct groove but still maintain the level of intensity and brutality.
Also, the riffing through the album is stellar Prashant Shah’s talent has been displayed and been talked about in the past but, in this album Prashant has killed it with some really mind numbing riffs on tracks such as Blood Drenched Flags and Alpha Omega. The guitar textures also add up to building a good atmosphere for the song. Also a very noticeable factor this time around is that the leads tend to be more melodic than the two releases (Not that I am complaining about it.)
The overall production of the album is good; Kuber Sharma has done a very good job of giving every song a distinct sound by giving every song a distinct mix. Hamza Kazi also has been instrumental in fine tuning the drum programming which sounds like a panzer battalion rolling through town. My only complaint about the album is because of the distinct mix for every song, the vocal mixes tend to sound a little muffled at places.
The artwork designed by Prashant, represents the epic battle between good and evil and that no side has an upper side and that choice to be made between good and evil is with us. Though the artwork is well made it is difficult to relate to instantly.
Overall, Exhumation has proven again why they are at the helm of the Indian Death Metal scene with a very solid release. People should seriously consider buying this. The album will release online as a free download and also a limited edition CD version will also be released via CDRack.in.
Overall rating 3.5 / 5

Title track is immense.
”The artwork designed by Prashant, represents the epic battle between good and evil and that no side has an upper side and that choice to be made between good and evil is with us”
Are you joking?
Please explain how you came to that conclusion?
You review is useless as well
Yeah, Consider This has some immense riffing. I’m in love with this album. Now, I just need the Skyharbor release.
Hell Yeah !
mad album, and apart from the ones that hit you in the first go the rest of the tracks are striking too.
First full length? Get the facts right.
Exhumation unleashed their debut Among The Dead in 2005 and followed it up in 2006 with the concept album For Personal Consumption Only.
The review is a tad too dry perhaps. Maybe slightly more descriptive passages? The artwork explanation is a bit juvenile I must agree.
“Consider This” is album 3 for Exhumation. Great songs.
From the band’s Metal Archives page:
Among the Dead EP, 2005
Defaced & Split Split, 2006
For Personal Consumption Only EP
Consider This Full-length, 2011
2 EPs, 1 split, this is their first full length.

Yes, yes. My bad.
dis is phull of phail….. album is up 4 free dls. herd it… very boring musik……
Prashant should have gone easier with the guitar layers because they’re all over the place. the riffs are excellent but ruined by excessive layering. Also the vocal patterns are amazing but sounding very low in the mix wtf?
the release date was set for later, cos we havent officially released it. There were a few kinks that needed to be ironed out, but we had to send out CBB copies for pre release press. Someone leaked the album, im not complaining, but whats happened is that a lot of people have downloaded the working copy of the album, which still had a few minor tweaks left. The final version will be released on the 14th ONLINE @ our reverbnation page. Thanks for the feedback.
Leaked? Who would do that?
I don’t understand that. As reviewers, we write what we hear. Why would you send working copies of the album to reviewers if thats not what the fans and buyers are going to hear at the end?
This is all part of Count Varathoras Satanic masterplan dont you know?
You are welcome, Prashant. I hope the production isn’t as sucky when the album finally releases. The songs on CT are very good but your first 2 albums sound a lot lot lot better.
Hi Sid,
Thanks for your feedback will implement it the next time around,
about the Full length thing Among the Dead was a EP and hence I wrote their First Full Length ( Check it up on Metal Archives )
ah yes, my bad actually. No biggie
Glad to know there are people who take constructive feedback. I just felt the review was a bit rushed up cause you didn’t give enough description on how the songs have been styled or whatever. I kinda like reading those parts. And the aim is to be convincing that so-and-so album deserves x out of 5 stars. My two cents.
Here’s the list of Exhumation releases :

Cheers !
Any chance of replying to my comment?
another fail explanation provided by prashant himself.its too funny how he keeps throwing up disclaimers about how he isnt a satanist.as if anyone cares.epic battle between good and evil and choices we make OMG
Hmm, where have i said anything about satanism here, and the fact ive mentioned im not a satanist before is because, I am linked with this band as well, and very often people generalize that were all into it or thats what the band stands for. the fact that you dont generalize or care that is great, but that hasnt prevented other people from doing so.
Sigh. The trolls are out in full force, yet again.
Hi honey have u ever felt the full force of troll in your ass?
Exhumation has inspired many in the scene and will continue to do so for years to come..A benchmark for brutal metal acts..Consider this is a riffage riot fom start to finish..
Like balls this is a benchmark for brutal bands. Don’t get me wrong; I love this band or used to when they sounded like a death metal band. This is NOT the Exhumation that once was. Horrible, horrible production. Somebody needs to write a review that pulls no punches instead of kissing ass…I think the band will appreciate that as well.
+1
It is not kissing ass Mr. Devdutt, it is appreciating good metal. The reviewers also listen to death metal, have been doing so for years now and know what they are writing about. They do not get any cash to kiss ass, neither do they receive a blowjob so they write what they feel should be written. At least I do that.
No the reviewers write this shit so they won’t get into the bad books of any band.
Can you please explain what the fuck that album cover is on about? According to the reviewer its about some good vs evil BS.
Exhumation Sucks. They sound like anything else in the scene today. Blood Meridian was LOT more better.
way to push your band shantanu.blood meridian hasnt done anything unique or outstanding so STFU.
the sound on consider this is too refined for my taste but the songs are FUCKIN A.theres no denying that exhumation makes the best death metal in this country.
i would take blood meridian over exhumation……..
I would take Moserbaer over Imation
@saneslay – please do. you can enjoy one band’s music without hating on the other but go ahead with your plan.
I think its safe to assume comments shall be closed in 4-5 days after everyone is done flamewarring and trolling. ‘Consider This’ my prediction lol xD
