Eshaan Sood is not just an ordinary school going kid , he’s a man boy with a vision, he is  someone who has brought massive change to a struggling Indian Underground scene. At just 14 he owns CDRACK.IN, through which now you can buy some of the best releases by  bands like Infernal Wrath, Demonic Resurrection, Blind Image, Prayag and  get them delivered anywhere within India, courtesy of Eshaan Sood. We caught up with Eshaan Sood, the ‘man’ of the moment for a quick interview

IRMP3: Hey Eshaan ! thanks for the interview, Tell us who Eshaan Sood is, what’s the story so far?
ESHAAN: Hey Man, thank you for the interview! This is my first one. Well, Eshaan Sood is your ordinary school kid who is interested in music more than anything else. It all started with the RHCP song Snow and the Maiden song Aces High. I started playing drums after hearing both these songs, which is one of the biggest reasons of me being interested in music. So Far So good.

IRMP3: What inspired you to come up with cdrack.in? How has been the response so far?
ESHAAN: What inspired me to come up with CDRack was the dearth of a one stop store. I’m a really lazy guy, and for me to write a mail to every band saying I want your CD was never going to happen. So one fine day brainstorming I come up with the idea of starting a website. My mum was in the midst of making a website for her business which actually gave me the idea. The response so far has been exhilarating. Its much much better than I expected.

IRMP3:  So how do bands approach you? How does artists/bands share profit through cdrack.in?

IRMP3: You are still in school, how do you manage school and distribution label?
ESHAAN: Honestly, at present it does not take up too much of my time. Not more than an hour a day on a busy day to be exact. So managing school is a breeze. But I would like to reach a point where I am devoting at least 3 hours a day on a free day.

IRMP3: Industry experts say, CD’s are a dying trend, specially in India people  prefer piracy from buying original music, do you think in the long run it will affect cdrack.in just like it happened to musicyogi.com?
ESHAAN: CD’s are a dying trend and there is no fighting that. At the end of probably another decade CD’s will be an elite product like LP’s. But still artist’s need the money and only gig’s are not enough. It may be few sales but sales are good. Also why people think that  specially in India is because a large part of the community that listens to this music is young and not earning. So ripping music is their only chance. All of this should not affect CDrack as selling only in India is a part of a bigger plan.

IRMP3: Any plans to sell international bands? or expand to some mainstream music and movies as well?
ESHAAN: International bands , Yes. Movies, No Unless some one is selling a concert DVD or something like that. If by mainstream music you mean pop and lounge then yes. CDRack is not genre restrictive we promote music not metal so bands of any genre can fell free to distribute via CDRack. Also We are releasing a French Trip-hop/ Lounge album by composer Yonass feat. IRMP3: What are the future plans, what do you intend to be?
ESHAAN: Future plans… The biggest plan/dream is to distribute for labels like Nuclear Blast and Metal Blade etc.. in India. We plan to take CDrack International as well giving people outside India a closer look at Indian Music. Also we are starting Merchandise sales.
