5th Jack Daniel’s awards 2010 winners

Submitted by IRMP3 on February 6, 2010 – 5:53 PM6 Comments

And the list of 5th Jack Daniel’s Rock Awards winners is out on RadioandMusic.com, Bangalore based folk rock band Swarathma took the top honors of  Best Band of the year, Best Song of the year and Album of the year (popular choice), Anupam Roy of Grey&Saurian Records won ‘Producer of the year’award for the second year in a row.

Although it is little difficult for me to understand how Jack Daniel awards work because they missed some of the best releases 2009 like Amogh Symphony’s ‘Abolishing the Obsolete System’ or a little known band from Chennai called E-Flat’s debut offering ‘Parables of Pariah’, in fact there were so many releases in 2009 (see complete list of releases) that Jack could have had awards for individual genre’s instead of pitting Metal vs Folk rock vs Alternative vs Blues. Anyways, Here’s the list of winners.

Santosh, JD asks bands to register and then nominate bands that have registered. Its possible that Amogh Symphony and E-Flat didn’t register, hence no chance of winning.

Rat King didn’t get nominated either, despite the fact that the music is beyond awesome and more than 10 international webzines have reviewed them with no one has given them a rating of less than 80%.

Also, JYG’s song It’s Ok has been nominated for best song for the last 3 yrs in a row. Does that ever happen anywhere really? Its not like there were no new releases that they actually had to have past nominations again. Would this ever happen at the Grammys?

    ^^

I think “It’s OK” by JYG has been featured on their EP Nicer In A Minute as well as their Album 11:11 Bootleg. But that still entitles it to be nominated twice, not thrice!

Maybe it was released as a single in another year ;)

  • Anno Niemus says:

How old is Them Clones’ My Life? Isn’t it time someone started nominating other songs?

  • jits says:

Well they do know about indian indie..But then they have their own jury..I mean to say Lifetime achievement award to biddu..Nothing against biddu or he deserving it..But then isnt this the indian rock awards ? or are they ?

  • pat says:

junkyard groove sucks big time, a band that is held together only by the drummer Maynard. I consider him the best any day.
Their songs are boring tnree chord songs that even a 5 standard kid could play, grow up guys n learn the basics of music b4anythingelse. Ur’ll must b on drugs to think that ur’ll could take on Mr.BIG?????
Craig, the best bass guitarist, that by itself shows that the Indian Rock scene is really fading away, come on guys there r way better bassists than Craig who knows only 3 chords. Scrap JYG n the indian rock scene will come back to life.
