The Year That Was 2009 – Anubhav Misra
Name : Anubhav Misra .
Band: Acrid Semblance .
City: Delhi
How was 2009 for you and your band, what do you think has been the best thing to happen for the Indian Rock scenario in 2009?
It has been a mixed bag. Started great, went down in the middle and has picked up again with the band finally writing new material for our 2nd Full Length CD after From the oblivion. I feel very fortunate to be working with such talented musicians.
From a larger perspective, one of the better things has been the number of albums that have started to come out. Bands are finally writing music! That is the real deal.
What are your Favorite song / album from 2009?
Artillerie – New Offensive (Ep)
Bhayanak Maut – Bhayanak Maut
Blackstratblues – The new album
One of the bands that got my attention is Guillotine. I think they are a very talented bunch of musicians and have a lot to offer.
Please share an instance on/offstage that you can’t forget from 2009.
Finding out that there are cables for my keyboards on stage in Roorkie and the organizer asking if we can play without them! You cannot beat that!
After the show at Hamsadhwani, one of the audience members came up to me. He had a handkerchief with some of our song names written on it. He wanted me to sign it. That kind of passion is very very humbling.
What is your and your band’s plan for year 2010?
The larger goal is to survive another year. I have seen 10s of bands and managers come and go since the day I’ve started playing and I am very proud to still be here and ‘getting action’.
We want to keep releasing new music in whatever form we can and give people a sense of confidence that no matter what Acrid Semblance will still play the brand of music that is ours. We are fortunate to have a very passionate set of friends.
If you had to change something from the year gone by what would that be?
I wish I could say no to my US work permit earlier. It almost ruined the band. But I am glad that its behind us and we are here for 2010 and beyond.
How do you think the Indian rock scene will change from 2010 onwards?
I think things have started to shape up. We still have MILES to go before anyone can say that this is the beginning. However, we will see many failures that will help shape the way things are done.
