Ec{c}entric Pendulum,What’s the origin of that name?
Our music revolves around polyrhythms and the love for wierd time signature.these factors play an important role in the way we sound. hence Eccentric Pendulum. its like a testimony to our music.

What genre of music do you consider your work to be? Who are your major influences?
To sum it up,we’d like to think of ourselves as “genre’ly handicapped”. but we can safely call our genre what happens to be the new wave of progressive ambient thrash/death.
Having an influence is good, but when it comes to composing,if the influence is given more importance,it kills the creativity. so we believe that the influences can only give u a map of what lies ahead…choosing a path is ultimately left to the composer and we TRY to take a path that we feel hasnt been taken before thereby creating our own little space in this endless world of void :) . Individual influences are very diverse. They range from Tracy Chapman, John Coltraine, Jamiroquai n the likes, to Cynic,Meshuggah,Nevermore,Tool,Opeth and Dark Hall.

When did you form your band? What inspired you to make music together?
The band was formed about 6 months back . Just the love to make music and push our creative boundaries i guess. Our common thirst to explore what we can do better, that we ve not done in the past years with our ever evolving musical capabilities and inspirations. We recognize the fact that our individual ideas reveal fragments that sometimes hold more promise than the whole. But a new sort of culmination takes place when all the ideas are fused. When all the members sit and contribute to a song that is yet to be born. We may see an entire song taking the character of a part of the song or vice versa and the understanding of that aspect or fragment might be seen as fuel for the adjacent or the  subsequent songs. This thought has provided us links between the songs we written till today.though they might seem to be radical.the relation is not lost musically or lyrically
.

You guys recently released your debut EP called ‘The Sculptor of Negative Emotions, Tell us about the ‘making of – the Sculptor of Negative emotions’ . And the story behind the album name.
The making:
We first recorded the drums, then the guitars, then bass, and then vocals hence the ep got made .duuuuuuuuuh!!! lol.
We did just one song initially at a friends studio so that we could put it up on online music portals, so that people would know we existed…but then we enjoyed the whole process too much..so we did the whole ep. and finally ankit from theorized gave us a very power promising mix. hence after 3 months of post production finally we launched this cd at our own rock ethos that happened in bangalore.
This is the like the foreword a preface to our main concept full length,in which we talk bout the difficulties that an artist[art, paintings etc]goes through during his career, how many unwanted ugly faces he needs to see and deal with to become big…how many people he needs to convince for him to score big. where the notion of time and space influenced by the dynamics of culture, society and environment, defines the visible, and occupational dimension and the expression of the art he creates.merely abstraction does not mean money fame and satisfaction anymore….everything s got a reason….
This is the main theme of the full length which is mixed with a certain philosophical angle and story which the songs will narrate , about light,truth,color..etc
eccentric-pendulum tsone The album art is awesome, and the credit goes to….??

Aalex Eckman Lawn, an artist with Willowtip records is responsible for the art work…we dedicate this EP to him

DoYou  guys rehearse very often? What are your rehearsals like?
They are fun filled, liquid filled, smoke filled ,stink and sweat filled session which happen twice a week

The Metal Scene in India is like ’survival of the fittest’,  Tell us about the ‘Scene’ in Bangalore and in India in general. How ‘far’ do you see Ec{c}entric Pendulum  few years from now ?
Its all about playing live and creating the impact. Once we ve done that and we ve the capital for money . We see oursleves recording our full length album….

Where have you performed?  Do you have any upcoming shows?
Many shows have gone by, some good, some bad. Our next gig is a headliner at the Dayanand Sagar  college of enginnering . We also should be playing our local metal festival which goes by the name March Metal Mania, which will ironically happen in April.

Which songs do you perform most frequently? Do you ever play any covers? Do you have a set play list?
We have 5 originals right now and will be working on 4 more for our full length.we are inspired to cover a lotta challenging stuff  …  but no point. so covers are  off the books for now.

Who writes your songs? What are the main themes or topics for most of your songs? Do you think these topics will change over time?

The lyrics are written by the bassist, edited and performed by the vocalist ofcourse :P  ,all of us take part in figuring the structure of the song. Main theme fragility….mortal helpless  nature…. betrayal…..  space…  time….. architecture….. art…. beauty…… expressions….. emotions…. obscenity….. absurdness.
Yes the topic and the way of writing both the songs and the lyrics should be revolving door. When navigating through such conditions in our genre of music, improvisation is accepted and is a necessity. We do not aim for nice ideas or fantasies of beauty in music which people will instantly listen to and love. Instead, we seek beauty within the logic of our abilities to play and our social/financial conditions[equipments].

What has been your biggest challenge as a band?
To play with our keyboardist dheeru(who is extremely busy) and making our vocalist come on time for jam :P .lol

How can fans-to-be gain access to your music ? Do you have a website with sample songs ?
Yes we have a Myspace page …a Reverbnation page and a Facebook page . In Bangalore,we sell the CD’s ourselves (with the help of a few friends) at gigs… and friends in Bombay, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad and Chennai are helping us, in getting all of you guys a copy.the cd sells at 50 bucks plus shipping.

What advice do you have for people who want to form their own bands?
GO  for it ….do it for yourself rather than for anyone else. Do not seek fame and money…

Is there anyone you’d like to acknowledge for offering financial or emotional support?
None but our parents right now

Any last words?
Keep an open mind ….keep it eccentric…cheers
